When will I start?

The academic year will start as planned on Monday 21 September. Our Welcome and Induction programmes will introduce you to University life and help you to settle in. More information on this will be available on these pages in the coming weeks.

Teaching will begin for most courses on Monday 28 September. A small number of courses have different start dates – we will contact you separately if this applies to you.

Where will I study?

We are shaping up our plans to welcome you onto campus from the start of the semester. Working to government guidelines, we are introducing social distancing measures across our campuses and halls of residence. From September we are currently planning for the following:

Please note that these plans could change, depending on how the Covid-19 situation develops, and subject to government guidelines.

Our commitment to you

We want you to enjoy everything that being a student at Derby has to offer, including our outstanding facilities and great city. But above all we want you to be safe and well.

Across all of our sites we are making sure that you can have as much contact time with your lecturers, tutors and fellow students as we can arrange safely.

For full details on what this means if you are planning to live in halls, please visit our accommodation pages.

We will support you if, for any reason, you are not comfortable coming onto campus in September, or during the autumn term, for the individual or small group teaching sessions we are proposing.

If you have any specific concerns about coming to campus or living in halls, we are happy to discuss these with you. Please get in touch. If you have additional needs and would like to discuss these with our Student Wellbeing team, please complete this form and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
